Oxicorte

El corte por oxicorte es la operación de seccionamiento o corte del acero por medio de un soplete alimentado por un gas combustible. Esta operación se basa en la reacción fuertemente exotérmica de la oxidación del hierro en presencia del oxígeno.

En la práctica, un soplete de oxicorte está alimentado con un gas combustible que puede ser propano, acetileno, etc. y oxígeno; para cumplir con su cometido, primero se debe lograr un pre-calentamiento local del material y cuando este se alcanza se procede a la inyección de un chorro de oxígeno puro a presión. La presencia de este chorro de oxígeno acelera la oxidación del material y por otro lado, la presión con que es inyectado produce la expulsión del mismo, generando una sangría o ranura de corte.

El oxicorte es básicamente aplicable con buenos resultados para aceros al carbono y aceros de baja aleación. El gas combustible puede ser acetileno, propano, gas natural o gases mezcla.
